Rachel Rivers joined Gross & Klein LLP as an associate in October 2016. Her practice focuses on environmental litigation and complex civil litigation.
Prior to joining Gross & Klein LLP, Rachel worked for Freeman & Freeman representing clients in a wide array of civil litigation matters, including medical malpractice, nursing home elder abuse, and personal injury. At Freeman & Freeman, Rachel represented individuals and families against large skilled nursing homes and residential care facilities for the elderly in elder abuse and wrongful death cases.
Federal Court – Northern District of California – Represented individual in claim for long-term disability insurance against national insurance carrier, after refusal to provide coverage.
- California Superior Court – Represented surviving children against nursing facility in claims of elder abuse and wrongful death. Resolved case through settlement and worked with California Department of Social Services in the investigation and revocation of the facility’s license.
- California Superior Court – Represented husband and wife after dog attack resulted in traumatic brain injury. Resolved case through settlement.
While in law school, Rachel worked with the Center for International Environmental Law drafting policy reform proposals addressing gaps in international chemical treaties, and analyzing the impacts of extractive industries on human rights and the environment.
